Handmade Holidays #1: Easy, comfy cowls

Today starts a series of posts called "Handmade Holidays"- DIY ideas that are easy and quick to make, and even better for your loved ones to receive!

First post has to be a cowl, one of my favorite things to knit up quickly. This is a gift anyone would love to receive and wear proudly during the chilly winter months...

Here's what you will need to make your own:
1 hank of yarn (I used Cascade Magnum in the pictures below, which is 100% wool)
US17 needles
measuring tape
large eye sewing needle for sewing seam of scarf into cowl

(Be sure to ball your yarn before you begin any knitting project)

Cast on 20 stitches.

Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Repeat rows 1 & 2 until piece measures 28"

Cast off.

Twist the piece twice, then begin to close the seam.

Join your seams in your preferred method, and weave in ends of yarn. TA DA! Warmth and style awaits!
