Kind of obsessed with this latest DIY.
If you can knit and purl, and sew a straight line, you can totally make this knit clutch in a day.
The pattern is by Sarah Hatton (my knitting idol!) found here.
I used one skein of Rowan Big Wool in gunmetal
Size 15 needles
scrap fabric for lining
2 large snaps
sewing thread and needle
yarn needle
Once the rectangle is knit, the lining is sewn in. I love the purl edging, which made for easy construction.
To keep the clutch from being shapeless, a piece of cardboard is sewn behind the back of the clutch(the top of a shoe box worked perfectly for me).
Once sewn, I stitched up the sides with the yarn and sewed on the snaps.
Here is a great picture of the lining.
The cardboard allows for some structure to the clutch, and will protect any items inside.
I think this would be a great (and easy) gift to make up in miniature form. I know two toddlers that have already placed orders for theirs! :)
