DIY Tote Bag

LOVE tote bags. I probably own too many, but these are just too cute to make and use...maybe I will have to make a bunch and spread the tote bag love!

Here are some toddler sized mini-totes I whipped up for the girls....the "Frozen" fabric was SO hard to find!

To make your own, you will need:

-1/2 yard of the fabric of your choice- for the mini version, a fat quarter will do
-sewing machine
-scissors or rotary cutter
-cotton webbing
-iron

1. Cut two 16x14 inch rectangles out of your fabric, ensuring that the fabric is facing the same way so they line up when sewn. For the toddler version, cut 12x10 inches.

2. Cut two 22" cotton webbing pieces for your straps. Mini version cut two 16" pieces.

3. Pin the webbing about 3-4 inches in on either side, and zig-zag stitch to secure.

4. Turn and pin 2 inches down, as shown, and sew to secure 1/4 inch on either end.

5. Repeat for the other side, then pin right sides together.

6. Sew 1/2 inch seam around bag, and cut off the two bottom corners. Then do a zig-zag stitch as close as you can to the edge. This will prevent fraying from wear and tear on the fabric.

7. Turn right side out, and press fabric flat.

The basic bag is now done! You could also make this out of leather, add a pocket, make a micro-mini version to hold a gift....the options are endless! Enjoy!

Thank you to The Purl Bee for the inspiration!
