Quick Crochet: Throw Blankets

I have a love affair with granny squares.

I love that you can mix and match colors and the squares make it look effortless and fun.

This DIY for a mega granny square blanket takes less than 5 hours to make! The bulky yarn crochets up quickly making it a great project for a beginner hooker :)

You will need:

5-6 colors of yarn (I used Loops and Threads Cozy Wool)
Size US P 15 crochet hook
yarn needle to weave in pieces
scissors

Begin your granny square and change colors for every round. I completed this blanket over the holiday weekend finishing about 15 rounds. It is for a co-worker's baby shower. I hope the baby loves the blanket for years to come. It is so snuggly!

(Here is a great granny square tutorial if needed)

At the last round, you are ready to finish your edge. Here is my favorite edging.

Working in one corner to start, Triple Crochet 2, Chain 2, Triple Crochet 2, Chain 2, Triple Crochet 2.

Continue throughout edges as follows:  Triple Crochet 2, Chain 2, Triple Crochet 2. Tie a knot.

Weave in excess yarn.

Ready for couch time!
